India has so far evacuated more than 2,000 of its citizens from Ukraine and over 1,000 of them have been brought back home on chartered flights from Hungary and Romania under its evacuation mission ‘Operation Ganga’.

India has been shifting its citizens from the conflict zones to the country’s western region for their subsequent evacuation through Hungary, Romania, Poland, and Slovakia. – all nations which share borders with Ukraine.

The stranded Indians are currently being evacuated through the land routes as Ukraine has closed its airspace for civilian aircraft following the Russian attack. “We sincerely request all Indian nationals/students to remain calm, peaceful, and united. A large crowd can be expected at the railway stations, therefore, it is advised that all Indian students remain patient, composed, and especially not to exhibit aggressive behaviors while at the railway stations,” the embassy said.
